My wonderful father was stopped at a signal light when a drunk driver rear ended him and killed him instantly. He was only 54. The man was 58 and was cited 4 days prior for driving under the influence.This occurred 3 weeks ago. So what is the purpose of filing a civil lawsuit?

My lawn business has been growing for the past 3 years. Next year I will need a 4 man crew (and extras as back ups) to help run it and grow. How do I protect myself from a lawsuit if a worker or pedestrian gets hurt while they are working? Can I avoid liability by having my employees work at their own risk? I also need to protect my income coming from another job and my home and personal assets.

Our X-Box 360 Platinum died only nine months after purchasing it and it cost us a pretty penny too.
I called Microsoft and they said it would cost us 0 to fix but if they sold us faulty game system I don’t think we should have to pay a dime.
If anyone knows about this class action lawsuit in California against Microsoft I’d like to find out more about it.

Hypothetical Situation:
17 year old girl who is 7months pregnant gets drunk and gets into a car accident. She is rushed to a hospital and her baby is delivered by emergency cesarean section; her baby dies two days later.

So more specifically, what landmark court cases can I use that can be useful for the situation above?

I think I have a good case for a class action lawsuit.
this will under the "state of the art" breach of contract.

Features were falsely advertised as they were part of the previous game.
People were expecting basic PC multiplayer features and they were NOT delivered.
